Hello friend,
How are you? I hope you're doing well.
I don't know about you, but during the past two years of working remotely, I needed to find a safe outlet for social interaction.
So, I joined Lunchclub.
If you haven't heard about it, it's like speed dating but for professional networking. You set your interests and off the algorithm goes and matches you up with like minded folks for a video chat.
In 2021 I met with a whopping 116 people in 46 countries! Yep! Even I was surprised to see these numbers.
I still remember calls from people in Japan, Switzerland, and the Ukraine - that allowed me to peek into their lives and see how they work and play during COVID.
How often do you get to meet that many people?
I liken the experience to going to an "interactive library." You get to meet people sharing their stories, and unlike passive reading, can linger on a specific detail and ask questions or share a similar experience.
One of the common questions you're always going to get - which is true in any networking settings - is the perennial:
"What do you do?"
Every online or offline conference you attend these days, has a networking segment, right?
So, how do you typically answer this question when you meet people?
