Elon Musk Completes $44 Billion Deal to Own Twitter
The gist: By far the most wild story that came in last week. The winding tale of Twitter acquisition (buy>refuse to buy>forced to buy) came to an end last Wednesday night. Other initiatives include his intent to open the platform to everybody (including Trump), ditching advertising for new revenue sources from subscriptions like paying a monthly $20 for that blue verified check icon (currently 90% of revenue is coming from ads), and a plan to achieve “annual revenue of $26.4 billion and have 931 million users by 2028. The company reported $5.08 billion in revenue last year and had more than 200 million users.” There is also a plan for a wide job cuts of Twitter 7,500 employees. Musk denied an earlier rumor of up top 75% cut.
