A few days ago, I came across an article about a new startup that offers luxury and fashion brands an NFT (digital certificate) that replaces the authenticity paper card that you get with your new watch or handbag.

Regardless if it's a great idea or not, it made me think about what drives innovation.

If you think about it, NFTs broke out a year ago with the typical application revolving around collectible digital art in various NFT marketplaces.

I liked this story because it shows you that sometimes when you're looking for new ideas, you can follow this simple exercise.

First, you need to ignore all the noise about how people are currently using NFTs and zoom in on the primary function of your interest area - in this case NFTs.

In essence, NFTs offer a decentralized proof of ownership.
